# About Shrivu Shankar

Shrivu Shankar is VP, AI Strategy at [Abnormal AI](https://abnormal.ai/), where he builds AI-native security products. He is based in San Francisco.

He joined Abnormal in 2022 as a machine learning engineer, using large language models to build cybersecurity products and superhuman detection systems, and became VP, AI Strategy in 2025. He holds a BS in Computer Science from [The University of Texas at Austin](https://www.utexas.edu/) (2018–2022).

He writes about coding agents, LLM systems, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI security, and the future of software engineering at [Shrivu's Substack](https://blog.sshh.io/), with widely shared essays including "Everything Wrong with MCP", "How Cursor (AI IDE) Works", and "Building Multi-Agent Systems".
